What our Customers think
On Navigation Training....
"Inverclyde Ramblers have sent groups of people for navigation training to Wendell's Mountain skills this year. The groups ranged from novices to people with intermediate skills. Everybody felt they learnt a lot from the training and also enjoyed themselves during the courses. The members involved now feel more confident and safer out in the hills." GPS for the mountains
The course was excellent.....a fine combination of just enough " chalk and talk " combined with good hill navigation experience. You must have known Sunday was going to be a typical Cairngorm day, cold wet misty and unable to see your hand in front of you but ideal for navigation. I will go back when the weather improves, hopefully to see the hills and corries you talked about.
You took me through the weekend patiently and built up my confidence in the use of an amazing tool whilst never forgetting to remind me of its shortcomings.
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend and once my annual leave is confirmed I will contact you for the mountain navigation course.
All the best,
david.
"I've just completed the Nav.01 course successfully and want to thank you for your professionalism, patience and obvious skill. You set the standard which, I believe, others should strive towards and the course was comprehensive, challenging and fun - and a real eye-opener! You guided me towards my own achievements and I can now look forward with confidence to completing the next level. The whole experience far exceeded my expectations and I shall certainly recommend you to my friends. Thank you so much." I R Fedorko
Wendell’s Five Day Winter Expedition
The weather had turned, and the expedition suddenly became an escape off the mountain. Coming down was probably the toughest part of the whole week, but in a way it was an extra learning curve as this is exactly the kind of skills we had come to learn! The winds reached a fierce 70mph, and icicles were even forming on our cloths! We got down with no problem, mainly due to the amazing micro-navigation skills of Wendell in the white out. So, many thanks for that!

Mountain Navigation - Summer
" I recently attended the summer Mountain Navigation course and have also attended the Intermidiate Navigation course. On both courses I found Wendell to be vary approachable, easy going and a patient instructor who enjoyed teaching as much as I enjoyed learning. It was obvious throughout the courses that Wendell has a vast knowledge of mountain craft and although it was a navigation course he shared many hints and tips for making walking a more comfortable and rewarding experience. The theory was delivered in a concise, easy to understand manner and the training area for the practical side was both beautiful and challenging. Above all, the course did what it promised, "set me free". Thanks again Paul McNair
