Do we need to provide meals?

No, Meals are of a high standard and packed lunches are provided during the day. Residential courses only.

No, we provide Silva 4 expedition compasses and maps for all courses.

I’ve never used a compass but can read a map. What course should I take?

The Intermediate course focuses on the compass, such as how to take bearings and walking on a bearing.

I want to start walking in winter. Where do I start?

Take the Two Day Winter Skills Course. You will learn every thing you need to know for winter walking and being safe on the hills.

How are the courses and walks graded?

Easy: Low level activity on good trails. Moderate: Low level activity on trails with some steeper sections. Strenuous: Steeper gradient with hills. For those with some hill walking experience. Hard: Long mountainous days, for those with hill walking experience and a good level of fitness. Very hard: Mountainous days, only for those with hill walking experience and a good level of fitness. You may at times be required to use your hands and have a head for heights.

Do I need to buy a GPS for the course?

No, we provide GARMIN eTrex GPS's for the course. It is best to learn the basics and gain more knowledge about the GPS before you purchase one.
